The original design of the self-supporting dome roof on this tank was not conducive to proper maintenance. Due to the difficulty in cleaning and painting of the roof structure, it was not well-maintained so that over time the roof system had deteriorated to an unsafe and unstable condition.
Due to the dangerously unstable conditions of the roof, temporary supports were installed for the removal process. A new self-supporting roof was designed, fabricated and installed using a modern engineered design which is easily cleaned and painted to assure proper maintenance.
